Dogs for Sale - Where!?

Dogs for Sale - Where!?

In recent months the demand for dogs and puppies for sale from all corners of Ireland, Dublin, Cork, Kerry, Wexford to Donegal & Galway has increased dramatically. The most in demand breeds have been Golden Retrievers, French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, Airedale Terriers, Bichon Frise and an unprecedented level of requests for Cavachons, Cockapoos, Maltipoos and Labradoodles.

It is important to remember whether you are living in Waterford, Wicklow, Westmeath, Kildare, Kilkenny, Sligo or Mayo, that sourcing your puppy from an ethical and trusted source only is critical. This is the only way that a puppy can have a happy & healthy upbringing, which gives it the best chance in life. Also, by having a health and well socialised puppy, you are less likely to have a puppy with behavioural issues which dramatically reduce the likelihood of your puppy being relinquished to a rescue centre.

We have recently had calls from people saying how they went to collect puppies only for the 'supposed breeder' to say that it is not a 'done deal until you pay me another €300' beyond the agreed asking price. We also have had calls from members of the public in Limerick, Clare, Roscommon, Kildare, Tipperary reporting that people were observing their pets in highly suspicious manners. This raised their suspicion to the the risk of pet thefts which has seen huge increases nationwide unfortunately. As a result, many people are now keeping their pets indoors as unscrupulous thiefs are advertising innocent "Dogs for sale" which have in fact been maliciously stolen from the families. One man in Offaly recently suspected of acquiring such a puppy said that had he paid money upfront in response to a bogus "Dogs for sale" advert it could have been a done deal without any comeback. It transpired that the puppy he was presented with was very sick and had been weaned far too young, which is detrimental to any puppy.

The rise in dog & puppy thefts has also been noticed in Laois, Carlow, Longford, Louth, Down, Meath and Monaghan, Cavan areas. We ask all members of the public to be extra vigilant, and especially in responding to unscrupulous  "Dogs for Sale" adverts which are causing huge animal health and welfare problems. Always take care when people demand cash and urge to get have a transaction and "done deal" very quickly which pressurises you.
